Elen Levon's Dancing To The Same Song Video

Posted on 05:22 by rajveer

I don't have anything nice to say about this video, so for once in my life I'm going to shut my big mouth. This is a brilliant pop song and deserves to be a huge hit. I'm very happy to see it surging up iTunes. Go and download it if you haven't already. That is all.

Elen Levon's Viral Video

Posted on 05:23 by rajveer

Elen Levon (AKA Australia's next big thing) has just dropped a cute viral video for her new single "Dancing To The Same Song". The official video will be filmed in Japan in late September but this is a definitely worth checking out in the meantime. Sydney's hottest 18-year-old takes it easy in the clip - surfing and playing with her manager's kids. It's nice to see India's adorable children on screen and Elen's bikini body is insane. Most importantly, the soundtrack is brilliant. "Dancing To The Same Song" has been added across the board on Austereo and is slowly creeping up iTunes. I have a great feeling about the teenage diva's party anthem. That chorus is irresistible and she has some amazing people in her corner. Fingers crossed it's third time lucky for Elen.

Third Time Lucky For Elen Levon?

Posted on 06:48 by rajveer

How amazing are those abs? I haven't seen a washboard stomach like that since Janet Jackson was thin (ie. in the '90s). It's odd then that this flawless cover was ditched in favour of the lackluster effort below. But more about that later. If you haven't guessed, Elen Levon is gearing up for the release of her third single and it's easily her best yet. "Dancing To The Same Song" was co-written and produced by 3OH!3 and the boys have delivered something special. Waves of heavy synths wash over cute party anthem lyrics before the catchiest chorus of 2012 kicks in. The track is undeniable. I loved "Naughty" and "Like A Girl In Love" but this is more current and radio friendly. Elen is scarily talented and has the tools to be an international star. Sometimes I just think her label has no idea what to do with her. Hence making a gorgeous 18-year-old look like a 45-year-old extra from Desperate Housewives on the official cover (below). Whatever. "Dancing To The Same Song" is pop perfection and cream always rises to the top eventually.

Elen Levon's "Like A Girl In Love" Video

Posted on 22:32 by rajveer
Elen Levon unveiled her "Like A Girl In Love" video clip this afternoon and it's a big step up from "Naughty". Filmed on location in Cambodia, the moody visual plays like a PG version of Rihanna's "We Found Love" - you know... without the sex, drugs and nudity! The 17-year-old is shown cavorting (fully clothed) in the bedroom with her boyfriend, before roaming around the Asian wilderness on the back of a truck. I particularly love the beautifully filmed scene on the world's shabbiest ferris wheel. It's apparent her label was going for an edgier, more adult style while staying age-appropriate and it works. She looks gorgeous - the American flag outfit is hot - and the exotic location makes it unusually atmospheric. My only complaints are the slow beginning and lack of choreography. Elen can dance like a demon, it would have been nice to see a Janet Jackson-esque solo routine. Anyway, it's a huge step forward. A great clip for an even better song.

"Like A Girl In Love" hits iTunes on March 2. Buy it.

Elen Levon - Second Single Cover & Preview

Posted on 22:05 by rajveer
Brace yourself for the second coming of Elen Levon. The 17-year-old Sydneysider impressed all the right people with her debut single "Naughty" but the follow-up is even better. "Like A Girl In Love" was written by James Ash (the original Rogue Trader) and produced by local dance outfit Denzal Park. The synth-heavy, hook-laden club anthem shows Elen in a completely new light. Her sound is rawer and sexier this time around, which is reflected in the sizzling cover art (above) and raunchy filmed-in-Cambodia video clip. That is set to drop on Monday but you can get a preview of the teenager's new jam below. How catchy are those "whoa whoas"? They just worm their way into your brain and refuse to leave. "Like A Girl In Love" hits Australian iTunes on March 2. A remix package featuring big name DJs like Starkillers and John Dahlback will be released on March 16. Stay tuned for the video!

Elen Levon's Future C-Pop Classic

Posted on 22:05 by rajveer
Poor Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and BoA. Their hopes of becoming Asia's next breakout sensation have been dashed now that Elen Levon is moving into C-Pop. A couple of weeks ago I posted pics from the 17-year-old's performance at the Gala World Music Festival in Beijing and mentioned that she belted out a new song called "Sun Burns Out" in Mandarin. Well, I finally got my hands on the audio and it's every bit as amazing as you would expect from Australia's next big thing. I have no idea what the teenager's pronunciation is like - very curious! - but it sounds great to my untrained ears. Your faves could never etc etc. Speaking of Elen, her next single "Like A Girl In Love" is about to drop any second now and I'm told "Naughty" has just been picked up for a US release in March. Phew! Anyway, brace yourself for a truly unique culture experience below.

Elen Levon In China

Posted on 23:42 by rajveer
Here are some pics of Elen Levon performing at the Gala World Music Festival in Beijing, which was broadcast to an audience of over one billion people. The 17-year-old sang two songs at the event - her next single "Like A Girl In Love" and another new track called "Sun Burns Out". In Chinese! I've heard the Mandarin version and it's really good. As soon as I get permission to share it, I'll post pop music's greatest linguistic triumph since this legendary musical moment. In other Elen news, she's currently filming the video for "Like A Girl In Love" in Cambodia. Her James Ash-penned second single is set to drop early next month - complete with slick production overhaul courtesy of Denzal Park. I love it and can't wait to see how it does on the charts. Stay tuned!

What Elen Levon & Israel Cruz Did Next

Posted on 04:50 by rajveer
It's been a while since we heard new music from Elen Levon and Israel Cruz. The rising Australian pop stars, who previously collaborated on "Naughty", have joined forces again for a new track called "Save My Life". Only this time Israel takes the lead, while Elen lends her powerful pipes to the chorus. The 17-year-old diva's management was quick to point out that their hard-hitting hip-hop anthem is just an interim single. It will only be serviced to The Edge (Sydney's leading urban radio station) and I'm not even sure if there will be a video. Both singers have official second singles due in late January/early February, so I guess this is just a little treat for patient fans. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from "Save My Life" but it's a great little song that showcases the pair's versatility and vocal prowess. The inspirational track hits iTunes on December 29. After the belated success of "Party Up" - and a second wave of "Naughty" promotion on the way - it will be interesting to see how it does. Listen to an unmastered demo below and let me know what you think.

Elen Levon's French Adventure

Posted on 04:29 by rajveer
While "Naughty" failed to set the charts on fire in Australia, Universal France is banking on a warmer reception in the land of fine wine and fromage. They have snapped up Elen Levon's debut single and plan on rush-releasing it by the end of the year. Which means it will be out in a matter of weeks! I really think this could work. The French have exquisite taste in urban-dance music (Kat DeLuna's era-defining "Push Push" reached the top 10 over there) and they love the pretty ladies. On the local front, Elen has been busy working on her follow-up single "Sun Burns Out". It is a total change of pace for the budding diva and will, no doubt, surprise a lot of people. She has also been in the studio with the ever-hot Luciana and the preview I heard gave me "Don't Hold Your Breath" chills. Stay tuned for more info!

Elen Levon Covers Britney

Posted on 02:48 by rajveer
With her debut single set to drop on September 30, Australian pop princess-in-waiting Elen Levon is ramping up the promo with a series of shows around the country. I caught the first of them on Friday night at Sydney's RNB Superclub and the 17-year-old delivered the goods, overcoming the dodgiest sound system in Australia. The setlist was pretty much the same as her recent industry showcase. She belted out a note-perfect rendition of "Naughty", while burning up the stage with her trademark killer choreography. It was amazing to see the audience response. One guy was literally crying and shaking. Elen has her first stan! The Year 11 student also dusted off the James Ash-penned "Like A Girl In Love" and "Ooh Yeah".

The big surprise of the night was the aspiring pop diva's energetic cover of Britney's "Til The World Ends". It seemed an appropriate choice given the comparisons that have been made between them. Elen did an amazing job with Ke$ha's quirky lyrics and Brit's robotic phrasing. In addition to performing the song live (something Ms Spears has never accomplished), she also knocked out some cute choreography with a little help from her always-flawless dancers Morgan and Carly. Listen to a one minute clip of the song below. The sound and visual quality isn't the best - it was taken on my crappy phone - but you get an idea of how the teenager's version turned out. "Naughty" hits iTunes this Friday. Pre-order your copy now!
